Our Story

The creation of Nama comes from the personal journey of our founder, Nicci Townsend.

It all started about ten years ago with yoga.  For Nicci, yoga became a wonderful way to bring balance and peace into her hectic life as a business woman and mother of two young children.   Through yoga Nicci found the courage to make positive change in her life including the decision to follow her passion to create Nama.  Her idea was simple:  create the first personal/beauty care company dedicated to superior products to enhance the practice of yoga and to fit a yoga-inspired lifestyle.

Why hair and body care?  Nicci grew up in the family business which for three generations has made premium quality hair and skin care products.   Since a young age, Nicci was immersed in natural products, fragrances and the latest innovations in hair and body care.  In the mid-2000s Nicci began working on Nama which would bring together top quality natural ingredients and unique formulations in beautiful products to enhance yoga practice as well as life “off the mat”.  Nicci founded the company on the belief that the spirit of namaste embraced by yoga can and should apply to how organizations, companies, brands and products engage with the world around them.

Today, Nama has a growing line of hair and body care products including shampoo, conditioner, moisturizing skinfood, meditation cream, hand & mat sanitizer and roll-on parfum.
